TEODOR TUFF? Bizarre band name, but then there are plenty of quality acts with strange band names. TEODOR TUFF can count themselves amongst those quality acts as well, as their debut full-length album “Soliloquy” is some ace Progressive Power Metal. The band’s style is rather interesting as well as the music which is without a doubt metallic and progressive, but the vocals are very glossy and have a decided Hard Rock vibe.
Drawing comparisons to other acts I would definitely have to name ANUBIS GATE, TRIOSPHERE and MERCENARY at their most melodic. The ANUBIS GATE reference shouldn’t come as much surprise to those of us in the know, as Jacob Hansen appears on the record as well as mixes and masters (he also did that work for MERCENARY). Now I will say that this certainly gives me a slight bit of bias as I worship the ground Jacob Hansen works on as well ANUBIS GATE and just about anything Jacob touches turns to gold. Fortunately the quality upon “Soliloquy” is undeniable. From production to musicianship and the songs themselves to the artwork this is a tour-de-force in that Scandinavian style of Progressive Power Metal which is my personal favourite music scene.
There are a notable amount of guest slots on the album, from the aforementioned Jacob Hansen to Jeff Waters and Mattias IA Eklundh. Most of the guest guitarists appear on the track “Heavenly Manna” which makes for a particularly insane guitar solo segment. There’s one thing I’m unclear on though, there is a female vocalist on the album who sounds the double of Ida "Pico" Haukland from TRIOSPHERE, yet I can’t seem to find any information on that. I’m pretty sure it’s her though, and she really works well in “Addiction” and the aforementioned “Heavenly Manna”. Sometimes guest slots can really take away from the quality of an album, fortunately on “Soliloquy” they sound perfectly natural and really adds to the experience.
The whole of “Soliloquy” is largely very good, and every song is fun, interesting and catchy. TEODOR TUFF are a really promising new act, and this could be the start of something special. Progressive Power Metal fans should buy this without hesitation, especially those who love the Scandinavian strand of the genre as much as I do. Recommended!

Setelah menjalani proses yang cukup panjang, akhirnya tepat tanggal 25 Juli 2012 album penuh kedua kami Amarah Jiwa rilis di bawah bendera Firecatz dan akan didistribusikan secara nasional oleh Demajors. Sengaja album ini kami beri titel “AMARAH JIWA”, karena dalam proses pengerjaannya begitu banyak cobaan serta hambatan yang cukup menguras tenaga, pikiran, emosi dan tentu saja finansial. Namun, seluruh emosi tersebut berhasil kami leburkan kedalam musik metal yang agresif.

Di awal proses kami mengerjakan album ini, vokalis serta pendiri band ini memutuskan untuk mengundurkan diri dari band ini. Namun kondisi tersebut tidak membuat kami menyerah di medan perang. Dis ela-sela proses rekaman, kami juga mengaudisi beberapa teman untuk mengisi kekosongan pada lini vokal. Sehingga akhirnya pilihan jatuh kepada Agung Sedayu (Dayu Noiser) yang saat ini masih aktif di sebuah band grindcore bernama ROT.

Selain itu juga kami terus menjalankan beberapa proses kreativitas, seperti desain dan layout packaging album. Di album ini kami mencoba memvisualisasikan isi maupun tema lirik kami ke dalam bentuk ilustrasi foto yang berhasil di terjemahkan oleh seniman pinggiran timur kota Jakarta, Wahyu Miswanto (Pulau Debu) & Syaif Rasyid (Imajivisual).

Dalam proses kreatif album rekaman ini, kami juga dibantu oleh beberapa rekan kami seperti Drop Dead Fred (Morfem/Nervous Breakdown/Unmistake) dan Comrade Lucky yang mengisi part vocal di lagu “Amarah Jiwa” dan juga Andre Tiranda (Siksa Kubur) yang mengisi lead gitar di lagu “Sampai Jumpa di Neraka”.  Selain itu juga di album kedua kami, kami meng-cover satu lagu dari sebuah band metal-core legendaris asal timur Jakarta, Revitol  yang berjudul “Fight For The Truth”. Sengaja di album ini kami memilih Revitol, sebagai penghormatan kepada Yopie drummer mereka yang telah meninggalkan kita untuk selama-lamanya.

Amarah Jiwa merupakan album penuh kedua kami, album perdana kami The Agony rilis di akhir 2006. Secara musikalitas tentu saja ada perubahan yang cukup signifikan. Hal ini dipengaruhi oleh semakin terbukanya arus informasi bagi kami untuk menikmati berbagai jenis musik. Perpaduan antara metal, hardcore dan death metal menjadikan album ini sedikit berbeda dengan typical band metal yang ada saat ini.

Dengar dan rasakan album Amarah Jiwa yang terdiri dari 10 track hasil karya sendiri dan 1 track cover version dari Revitol yang merupakan luapan emosi dari kelima pemuda yang menjalankan aktivitasnya sebagai anak manusia yang berjibaku di kerasnya ibu kota. Kelima pemuda tersebut terdiri dari: Agung Sedayu, Shandy Yudha, Rachmat Abdillah, Ahmad Dj, KD Gitta Adi Dharma.

The Outburst - Entertainment (2008)

The Outburst-Entertainment

It's been a while that we can hear words about The Outburst here in France but "Entertainment" is only their first official album. As we say, it's never too late to produce a first release but we heard so many stuff about them (especially in reason of a strong promotion) that it's normal after all to expect something big coming from this young French band. I won't say that "Entertainment" is the revelation of the year but without being genius this album is solid and cool to listen to. The fans of Neo-Thrash Metal and female vocalists should have a look at it; I doubt that they will be disappointed.

"Entertainment" is an album o Neo-Thrash Metal. This is really modern on a side and a bit "pop" with catchy but commercial choruses but the music is cool and heavy in general. The Outburst's guitarists play big Metal riffs and the rhythms are powerful in general and give a really good "violence" to the music. Of course don't believe that it's classic Thrash, this is not the case but if you're into Neo Metal or like bands like Machine Head and can still stand female vocalists, you'll like this album. Maybe that it comes a bit late though because the trend is over now and some people will just not care about it but this is honest and not bad at all. In the future I will just hope that the band will find a way to be a bit more surprising and to add maybe some more violent sides in its music but right now it's hard to blame the band which clearly tried to do its best and make good songs nonetheless.

The production of the album is really good and clearly sounds professional (despite the fact that the ridiculous biography talks about "the Shakira of Metal" (hard to do something more stupid…)). The musicians are not bad and even if the voice of Sarah can be a bit cliché sometime, she is ok and at least doesn't thing with a pseudo Symphonic voice. But she will clearly have to work on her English accent, because even if it can be cute for someone who is not from France, this is really boring with time. A lot of French bands have this problem and it just doesn't look really professional. Of course this is just a matter of time but it will have to change in the future because it just has to be perfect really…

"Entertainment" is not the most innovative album and not a perfect release but finally The Outburst makes its first release and this is not too bad really. Some things will have to be fixed in the future (like the strong French accent) but all in all this release is not bad really. With good riffs and catchy melodies "Entertainment" is a nice start, let's hope that The Outburst will be able to convince people now, they're not the first to produce such kind of music so it won't be easy but at least they do it well so who know maybe that it will work. Have a look at it if you want to listen to Female fronted Metal band with "Nu" Metal influences.
